There's so much burning right now on the West Coast. Just dreadful satellite imagery.
10 AM on the Golden Gate Bridge. Darker than dusk, sepia toned, like a total solar eclipse. And the birds still haven’t gotten up. This is what it’s like under the satellite image below (thanks @Weather_West and @NOAA). #CAFires2020 #ClimateChange
Extremely dense & tall smoke plumes from numerous large wildfires, some of which have been generating nocturnal pyrocumulunimbus clouds ("fire thunderstorms"), are almost completely blocking out the sun across some portions of Northern California this morning. #CAwx #CAfire
San Francisco right now vs the surface of Titan (images by Douglas Zimmerman @SFGate & the Huygens probe ESA/NASA/JPL/U Arizona). Both skies orange due to the scattering of light by small particles in the atmosphere: smoke haze for SF, hydrocarbons/tholins for Titan.
Finally getting to the photos I took today - surreal scene today in SF. #cawx #CAFires2020 #CAfire
#OregonFires Enchanted Forest in Salem Oregon looks downright Apocalyptic today.
