Aston Martin en Rolls-Royce presenteren concept zelf vliegende jet van de toekomst

Aston Martin ging al ter land, ter zee en nu dus ook in de lucht. Samen met Rolls-Royce presenteren ze een luxe en zelf vliegende jet. De producent van supercars zorgt voor een vliegtuig dat de 321 kilometer per uur moet halen.

Is dit dan eindelijk het begin van de toekomst waar we uiteindelijk overstappen in vliegende auto’s en dus niet eens meer zelf hoeven te rijden. Check je zo een seizoen Stranger Things terwijl je van A naar B rijdt.

Onder de motorkap ligt een gasturbine in combinatie met een hybride aandrijving die is geproduceerd door Rolls-Royce. Dankzij de tri-rotor propellers die Cranfield University heeft ontwikkeld, stijgt de jet verticaal op. Soort straaljager take off simulatie.

“Their heritage in VTOL systems is quite strong,” vertelt Sproule aan Auto Express. “They did the Harrier system and they currently do the system for the new F-35 Lightning which has just started service with the air force.”

Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer stelt dat de Volante Vision Concept de toekomst is om ons te transporteren door de constante groei van steden. “With the population in urban areas continuing to grow, congestion in towns and cities will become increasingly demanding. We need to look at alternative solutions to reduce congestion, cut pollution and improve mobility.” De toekomst is hier guys.
